In Conversation with Trees

As a practicing Druid trees are our Teachers, they hold much wisdom and healing if we can be open to our innate connection with them. They all hold different energy, healing properties and personality, much like human beings! The trees are in constant communication with each other and with all the Flora and fauna in the garden, especially the birds. I have had many messages with the birds over the last months and their symbolism has been more than helpful to me as I navigate through this thick time of change. We are ever increasingly being asked to be more connected, more aware, the spiritual is literally battering down our doors to come into our homes and take residence in our everyday lives. The trees on our land are a mix of Douglas fir, oak, birch, lime, sycamore, chestnut, pines, hawthorns, and Holly trees, yes a Druid's Dream! We are very honored to live in this space that these masters have domain for more years than we have probably been alive and there are a few of them who make themselves who we relate with more than others, Douglas Fir stands proud and guards our Sacred Grove. Giraffe ( a birch) looks over our vegetable plot. Linda Linden stands by the back door of our house, keeping our air clean and our garden scented with her sweet fragrance, Owen the Oak stands huge and tall near our new outside kitchen area, leaning into the river and holding a commanding space. You get the idea… so yesterday Marlon and I were working on the cob kitchen, with a friend who had come to get her hands dirty and help. We sat down for a cool drink near the river under Owen and during our deep conversation heard what we thought was a woodpecker pecking a tree… we all fell silent and carried on. Then when we got to another interesting part of the conversation the same thing happened again and we all looked over the river to the other side…. I said ‘That’s a tree knocking on another tree.. ‘ we all agreed and tried to find the suspecting trees. Silence so then I laughed and spoke about the time that Jung had indeed spoken to Freud on the issue of PSI Phenomena and how Freud had refused to agree with Jung about his beliefs, with Freud even stating that Jung's theory was ‘sheer bosh’ when he tried to explain more about catalytic exteriorization phenomena – known better as a synchronicity – a sign that you are on the right track! At that very moment, the tree made a sound again and we all laughed, what we were actually hearing was the creaking of a large tree across the river! We could not see which tree was communicating but indeed at that moment, we knew it was! We continued and again at an important time in the conversation, the tree creaked, giving us confirmation, as it had with Jung that his theory was indeed worth pursuing!

We thanked the tree for its communication and went about our business, exhilarated by the phenomenon and our new friend across the river. I wish to continue this relationship with whoever this tree is and will indeed seek the tree's wisdom again.
